Hello, and Welcome to In Your Mind's Eye!


Mission Statement

Welcome to our community! Our primary interest is Photography ; joining other like-minded deviants together and creating both a collection of images and a library of learning resources. Our goal is not only appreciating professional works, but seeing what the average person can accomplish with a camera when given the right tools and support. Expensive equipment is not necessary to get great photos, only knowledge and learning to seek out the unexpected.

Photos are like small windows, that when gathered together, allow a glimpse inside each artist's own creative little world. By collecting them all in one place, we shall be able to see our group member's perspectives and personalities as they grow. So fly forth fellow shutterbugs, and snap away!



Submission Rules

We would like our community to be as free as possible, but here are a few rules to help keep order. Otherwise, we will descend into a vortex of chaos from which even the most savvy mod cannot wrest us.



#1 Photos only -no composites or manipulations to the main folders. HDR is acceptable. (darkroom processes, damaged/boiled film, computer added colours, curves, minor edits and crops are accepted, but less editing is best!). If the image is heavily edited- please consider submitting it to the 'edits' folder. Manipulations of any kind will only be accepted into the edits folder. This may change as the group grows. Keep in mind, we want to see what YOU can do with a camera, rather than your computer

#2 Submission guidelines:

ALL submissions are accepted as long as they are photos. Global limit 1 per day
Submissions must be made to the proper folder. They will be declined if submitted incorrectly.
Please read gallery descriptions located inside each gallery if you are unsure. Feel free to note the group with a question if you aren't sure where it goes! *NEW Miscellaneous and Monochrome folders!* Miscellaneous is only for items that fit nowhere else. This doesn't happen often, and we discourage submissions here; if you really have no idea where to put it, please tell us on your submission comments, and we shall take a look at it! Submissions prior to the new system will stay where they are for the time being, until we can sort them out again

#3 Critique Requested folder is now open to one submission per week. If you would like a critique or help with an image please submit it to this folder and we shall do our best! We have a backlog, we are working diligently to catch up! Please be patient.

#4 Featured- Submissions to weekly Best are pitted against each other to win a coveted 'featured' spot, as well as a news feature and a journal feature! NOW OPEN 1/week!

UPDATE: as of August 20th 2011 Manipulations will not be eligible for weekly best competition. A few have snuck in over the last month. We are primarily a photography group- edits and film processes such as HDR and curves are acceptable- boiled film/damaged film and darkroom processes are acceptable. Images must be your own Thank you ! (We do LOVE what some of you can do with maniupulations though, which is why we will keep the edits/manip folder running for the time being, until we get too many submissions to handle ) note: manipulated images should be your own

#5 Contributions toward building an online catalogue of photography resources readily accepted. Please send suggested links to group notes or Admins.

#6 Critique is encouraged, but no flaming! Play nice

#7 All skill levels welcome, this group is all about INTEREST in photography, not just professionals!
